ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to study the institutional management of domestic violence within the administration of the educational unit. Additionally, the legislative regulation is approached through the views - perceptions and experiences of teachers. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a quantitative research was conducted using a structured questionnaire. A sample of 120 secondary school teachers was selected for the purposes of the research. The analysis was performed using the SPSS 17.0 statistical program. According to the findings of the research, teachers are aware of the forms of violence. Regarding the factors that play a role in the manifestation of domestic violence, the overwhelming majority of teachers reported addictions / perceptions / ideologies. Also, the overwhelming majority of teachers believe that the occurrence of violent behavior is related to the family/relationship with respective childhood experiences. Almost all teachers believe that the general recession and crisis intensify the emergence of domestic violence phenomena. The overwhelming majority of teachers considered as a consequence of domestic violence the harm to the psychic balance of the victim, the harm to the mental balance of other family members, the disruption of family peace, the development of behavioral patterns in children and the acceptance of violence as a daily routine / physiological behavior. As regards teachers' behavior towards an incident of domestic violence, ¾ reported they would be addressed to a support body or service. Regarding the origin of teachers' knowledge about the phenomenon, 2/3 almost mentioned the school / university and the media. ¾ of teachers said they would focus an information campaign on the overall awareness of the concept of prevention. Finally, there were no statistically significant differences between men and women for what they consider violence.
