ABSTRACT Aesthetics is a science that deals with a particularly formed organ, which covers the whole external surface of the body, the skin. In the era we live in, appearance plays a determining part in the social, professional and, especially, the psychological field. All women, and during the recent years a lot of men too, seek a healthy and flawless face and body. However, there are many times that this appears to be impossible since the skin is often inflicted by various morbid situations such as skin conditions, internal organs conditions that affect the skin, the sun radiation and heredity. The results of these situations are manifested on the face and the body of the people and they often have an unappealing appearance. These people often feel insecurity for their appearance and they attempt to improve it in any way possible, yet many times in vein as some cases need specialized treatment methods. This is where we meet the valuable offer of the aesthetics field to the minimization or complete treatment of the unappealing skin conditions. The rapid advancement of technology and the continuous appearance of innovations in the field of beauty offer all the proper means to the aesthetics to improve or even eradicate the skin distortions that are so important to the people nowadays. In this dissertation paper, we will emphasize on a skin manifestation which is included in the skin pigmentation disorders, the hyperpigmentation. There will be an analysis of the factors that cause the extreme increase of pigmentation on the skin as well as the ways in which it is possible to avoid, decrease or remove it.
