This thesis concerns the organization and processing (descriptive and subject cataloging and classification) of the collection of the "MELISSA" Orphanage. The items (encyclopedias and literary books) were registered in the computerized Koha system. There are some historical data of the orphanage and reference of the Koha and its functions. Concluding, there are references of the systems that were used for processing the items (AACR2, Library of Congress Subject Headings, DDC).
