Φυσικοθεραπευτική αξιολόγηση και λειτουργική αποκατάσταση σε ασθενείς με νόσο του πάρκινσον (Bachelor thesis)

Τρυγώνη, Ραλλού

Parkinson's disease (PD) is considered to be the second most common neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer's disease. It is a progressive disease which causes a number of monitor events to the patient. In addition, it affect other areas such as psychology, the level of consciousness, autonomous nervous system, etc. thus contributing to an increasingly poor quality of life. Occasionally, various treatments for PD, conservative and surgical, have been used, the most prevalent of which is the administration of levodopa (levo-Dopa) that 90% of patients are positive to it. However, all of them cause symptomatic relief, and none of them has been shown to slow down the disease is progress. This is the reason why physiotherapy intervention is made necessary as a low-cost, non-invasive treatment, initially starting from the patient's assessment both through history and physical examination and through various tests and scales [Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale ( UPDRS), Hoehn and Yahr (HY), Daily Activities Scale (ADL), etc.], which is essential for their proper retraining. Then through well-designed training strategies and retraining traffic standards the physiotherapy program focuses on minimizing secondary complications and making the patient more functional and independent in their everyday life thus ensuring a good quality of life.
