Introduction The diagnosis of type 1 diabetes marks for the child or adolescent and his/her family to start a new lifestyle. Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the secondary school teachers know issues related to the disease of diabetes type I regarding the students teenagers management about its treatment. Method 104 secondary school teachers participated. In particular, the study included 43 men and 61 women teachers with a mean age of 45.15 years of life. The months-long study of the literature led to the development of a questionnaire, which covered the needs of the population group studied. The questionnaire consists of 35 questions that fall into five different sections. Results Regarding the effect of diabetes on school activities, 26.9% replied that it creates difficulties in managing the diet, 26% reduces the concentration while 15.4% replied that it affects the enthusiasm and motivation. When asked about the necessity of written information for Type I diabetes, the results showed a statistically significant difference (p = 0,04) in relation to the working years. In particular, we see that the majority of respondents answered affirmatively to the written information necessity for Type I diabetes were teachers with more than 20 years of work. When asked about the existence of support and understanding from their peers, the results showed a statistically significant difference (p = 0,00) in relation to the variable of marital status. In particular, we see that the majority of respondents answered affirmatively to the existence of support and understanding from their peers were married. Conclusions It is clear that the knowledge of teachers on the management students who suffer from diabetes type I diabetes can be affected by various socio-demographic variables.
