The purpose of this thesis is the creation of a website and more specifically of a travel guide for Halkidiki. In this website the user will be given the chance to discover and be informed about the most popular areas of the prefecture as well as the accommodation choices that each area has to offer. Also, there is a culture section where someone can be informed about areas with great historical, cultural or religious interest. The programming languages that were used for the construction of this website are HTML, JavaScript and CSS, and the libraries jQuery and Bootstrap. The website also contains the use of maps (Google Maps API). As far as transferring files to the server is concerned, so that the website can be online, the tool FileZilla was used through the FTP protocol (File Transfer Protocol). The code was written using Notepad++. Finally, the website contains advertisements based on its content and on the user’s searches, mainly using the cookies that are stored in his web browser. The program that was used is Google AdSense.
