The book-site of Limassol (Bachelor thesis)

The following assignment is consisted of seven (7) chapters that describe the stages of creating a webpage. At first, the city of Limassol is shown that has an important location and range in the island of Cyprus. It is also known for its barriers and the amazing Mediterranean climate. When it comes to the process of creating the webpage, the initial thoughts are drawn on paper as well as its structure and the role of each webpage that we would create. At the fourth (4) chapter, the process of installing the program WordPress that was used for the webpage, is shown along with its characteristics and its comparison with other popular CMS programs. Moreover, this project presents the package of free software and open source programs Xampp as well as its installation and its user database creation. In the following chapter, a comprehensive explanation of the webpage’s transfer from local to public server is analyzed. A step-by-step explanation of creating an account in the public server Hostinger and the file transfer program Filezilla is shown next. Additionally, at the sixth (6) chapter of the project the procedure of creating the webpage along with several options and settings, that a webpage provides the user with, is presented and at the end a presentation of a few selected pages of the webpage is shown.

| Abstract: | Η παρούσα εργασία αποτελείται από εφτά (7) κεφάλαια τα οποία περιγράφουν όλα τα στάδια δημιουργίας του ιστοτόπου. Αρχικά, παρουσιάζεται η Λεμεσός με την σημαντική τοποθεσία της στο νησί της Κύπρου και την έκταση της, τα ξακουστά φράγματα της και το τέλειο μεσογειακό κλίμα της. Στη συνέχεια έρχεται η διαδικασία σχεδιασμού του ιστοτόπου με τις πρώτες σκέψεις να σχεδιάζονται σε χαρτί, ένα πρώτο πλάνο που φαντάστηκε ο διαχειριστής για τον ιστότοπο, η δομή του καθώς και ο ρόλος κάθε ιστοσελίδας που δημιουργήθηκε. Στο τέταρτο (4) κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζεται η διαδικασία εγκατάστασης του προγράμματος κατασκευής ιστοσελίδων WordPress, τα χαρακτηριστικά του και η σύγκριση του με άλλα δημοφιλή CMS ανοικτού κώδικα. Επίσης η εργασία αυτή παρουσιάζει το πακέτο από προγράμματα ελεύθερου λογισμικού και λογισμικού ανοιχτού κώδικα Xampp, την εγκατάσταση του, καθώς και την δημιουργία βάσης δεδομένων και χρήστη. Στο επόμενο κεφάλαιο γίνεται εκτενής εξήγηση της μεταφοράς του ιστοτόπου από τον τοπικό σε δημόσιο διακομιστή, εξηγώντας βήμα-βήμα την δημιουργία λογαριασμού στον δημόσιο διακομιστή Hostinger και το πρόγραμμά μεταφοράς αρχείων Filezilla. Στη συνέχεια, στο έκτο (6) κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζεται η διαδικασία δημιουργίας ιστοτόπου, με τις διάφορες επιλογές και ρυθμίσεις που παρέχει ένας ιστότοπος, και τέλος γίνεται μια παρουσίαση επιλεκτικών σελίδων του ιστοτόπου.
