The purpose of this study is to investigate the morbid obesity during pregnancy. The increase of BMI (Body Mass Index-BMI) at levels above normal is a phenomenon inherent risks and ever increasing global repercussions. This disorder during pregnancy has numerous harmful consequences that negatively impact directly on the health of the mother, and the development of pregnancy and future health of the infant. The complication rate in pregnant is very high. Some complications are presented preeclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus, infections and thromboembolism. Also it is noted an increased risk of miscarriage, intrauterine death and fetal macrosomia. With regard to delivery, obese women often led to induction of labor and caesarean section, while an increased rate of complications intraoperative or postoperative period or during childbirth. Furthermore, the overweight female infants have higher rates of congenital malformation. Long term in adulthood, these children are at risk of obesity onset, atherosclerosis and insulin resistance or diabetes. To prevent all of the above reduce the BMI of the woman is required before the start of pregnancy at least to levels below 30 kg / m2 and most preferably 25 kg / m2. Finally during pregnancy and postpartum obstetric recommended close monitoring of the pregnant woman and fetus to show potential complications and combine proper nutrition and regular exercise.
