Airport security (Bachelor thesis)

The main purpose of this graduation project is to present and describe the security measures taken in all airports, from the restrictions to the checks of the baggage ending with the measures that are taken to avoid terrorism.
You are about to be informed for the main meaning of airports moreover the project presents the historical evolution. Moving on, the duties and responsibilities of security are shown while also advices and prohibitions for the appropriate working conditions are being given.
The information given is specific and also has been analyzed. Although the permitted and the unauthorized objects included in luggage and carry-on baggage, the permitted size of them, the allowable liquid content, are listed. In the end, the main subject of children or infants traveling by airplane and the specific food which is given on the airplanes is presented.
Moving on, reference is made on the greatest Greek airports while requirements are given on what are the appropriate conditions that an airport should have in order to be awarded as the greatest.
The main subject turned to be very interesting and useful. In conclusion studying the project we understand that even if some of the security measures are very strict in way that they seem to us very weird, they are efficient and if we follow every instruction given we will avoid any delay caused by our own ignorance.

| Abstract: | Σκοπός της παρούσας πτυχιακής εργασίας είναι να παρουσιάσει και να περιγράψει τα μέτρα ασφαλείας που λαμβάνονται σε όλους τους αερολιμένες, ξεκινώντας από τους περιορισμούς και τους ελέγχους των αποσκευών και καταλήγοντας στα μέτρα που εφαρμόζονται κατά της τρομοκρατίας.
Πρόκειται για μια εργασία στην οποία γίνεται αναφορά στην έννοια των αεροδρομίων ενώ παρουσιάζεται και η ιστορική εξέλιξή τους. Στη συνέχεια, παρουσιάζονται τα καθήκοντα και οι αρμοδιότητες της ασφάλειας των αεροδρομίων και ταυτόχρονα δίνονται συμβουλές και απαγορεύσεις για την κατάσταση που πρέπει να επικρατεί στους εργασιακούς χώρους.
Οι πληροφορίες ασφαλείας που δίνονται είναι αναλυτικές και συγκεκριμένες. Γίνεται περιγραφή των απαγορευμένων και των επιτρεπόμενων αντικειμένων στις αποσκευές και στις χειραποσκευές, του μεγέθους των χειραποσκευών, της μεταφοράς των υγρών και τέλος τίθεται το θέμα των παιδιών - βρεφών και συγκεκριμένα των τροφών τους.
Αναφορά γίνεται στα μεγαλύτερα ελληνικά αεροδρόμια ενώ δίνονται οι προϋποθέσεις που πρέπει να πληρεί ένας αερολιμένας για να βραβευτεί ως κορυφαίο.
Το θέμα της πτυχιακής αποδείχθηκε πολύ ενδιαφέρον και χρήσιμο. Μελετώντας την εργασία διαπιστώνουμε ότι παρά το γεγονός ότι κάποια από τα μέτρα ασφαλείας είναι αρκετά αυστηρά, σε σημείο που μας φαίνονται περίεργα, είναι αποτελεσματικά και αν ακολουθήσουμε τους προβλεπόμενους κανόνες θα αποφύγουμε την καθυστέρηση που πρέπει να υποστούμε κάθε φορά κατά τη διάρκεια του ελέγχου κυρίως λόγω της άγνοιάς μας.
