This thesis is a research and has as subject the health related quality of life of people aged 65 years old and over, that systematically use thermal springs as a method of treatment, and its comparison to people that do not use them. The purpose of the research is to study the level of the effect that thermal springs have on quality of life. The issues that are being analyzed in the general part of this thesis are the quality of life, the thermal springs and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey. Firstly, the historical evolution of the quality of life is mentioned and some definitions, that are being used, are cited. Furthermore, the attributive factors and the models of the quality of life are analyzed, and also, the evaluation and the measuring tools, with which the quality of life is measured. Moreover, the properties of the water and its effects on the human body (depending on its temperature) are cited, as well as the methods of hydrotherapy that are used nowadays. The historical evolution and the types of the healing springs are also mentioned. At the same time, a great number of Greek healing springs are introduced. The general part is completed with the analysis of the questionnaire that was used for the data collection of the research. It contains data for the origin and the content of the questionnaire, as well as for the structure, the use and the scoring. The research part of the thesis follows. Firstly, some data about the methodology of research are mentioned and subsequently the results are presented as charts. Finally, the conclusions, which have emerged of the processing, analysis and interpretation of the data, are cited.
