A significant issue faced by the Departments of Technological Institutions, is to define the curriculum schedule according to the students' choices. For example, it is very difficult to precisely
calculate the number of classes per course needed for the upcoming semester. The aim of this thesis, is to show the implementation of the OLAP technology in the Information Technology Department of A.Τ.Ε.Ι. Thessaloniki for the appropriate graphic presentation of useful information regarding to
the students' grades and their priorities, which will lead to planning the best possible curriculum. The stages of extraction, transformation and data loading in a data warehouse, which is especially designed and implemented in order to serve OLAP reports, are also analytically presented.

| Abstract: | Ένα σημαντικό πρόβλημα που αντιμετωπίζουν τα Τμήματα των Τεχνολογικών Εκπαιδευτικών Ιδρυμάτων, είναι ο καθορισμός του προγράμματος μαθημάτων σύμφωνα με τις προτιμήσεις των φοιτητών. Για παράδειγμα είναι πολύ δύσκολο να υπολογιστεί με ακρίβεια ο
αριθμός των εργαστηριακών τμημάτων ανά μάθημα που θα χρειαστούν για το επόμενο εξάμηνο. Στόχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής είναι η υλοποίηση συστήματος αναλυτικής επεξεργασίας δεδομένων (On-Line Analytical Processing-OLAP) στο Τμήμα Μηχανικών Πληροφορικής του
Α.Τ.Ε.Ι.Θ, για την κατάλληλη γραφική παρουσίαση χρήσιμων πληροφοριών σχετικά με την επίδοση των φοιτητών και των προτεραιοτήτων τους, που θα οδηγήσει στη χάραξη βέλτιστου προγράμματος μαθημάτων. Παρουσιάζονται αναλυτικά τα στάδια εξαγωγής, μετασχηματισμού και φόρτωσης των δεδομένων σε αποθήκη δεδομένων που έχει σχεδιαστεί κατάλληλα ώστε να εξυπηρετήσει αναφορές αναλυτικής επεξεργασίας OLAP.
