The globalization of the market and the opening of the market-driven transactions made necessary the creation of a common framework for the accounting and financial state of the companies. The reason for the adoption of a sum of accounting regulations lies in the need for reliable information on the companies’ financial performance, that will provide the external users with the opportunity of comparing between companies, and sectoral markets. As a consequence, the European Union has adopted the International Financial Reporting Standard (I.F.R.S.). In Greece, the obligatory implementation for the trading companies started in 2005. The present study focuses on a general evaluation of the I.F.R.S., and in particular an analysis of the I.F.R.S. 16, that defines the accounting treatment of the leasing costs. The purpose of the study is the impact assessment of the accounting treatment of the Leasing costs, according to the regulations of I.F.R.S. 16, in Equity and Profit-and-Loss Account of the food and beverage industry. For the successful achievement of the objectives, all the appropriate tools for analysis and research were uses, as well as the published financial reports of the enterprises used in the study.
