The purpose of this paper is to present the modern form of the tourist office. The elements that make up a tourist office and the features that distinguish it from its oldest structure and function are presented. The first chapter includes basic definitions and concepts necessary for an in-depth understanding of the tourist phenomenon that will be extensively used in the content. Specifically, an analysis is made regarding the tourism phenomenon, quoting the elements that make up the tourist industry as the tourist product and the main factor contributing to its production, the tourist office. It then includes a more extensive analysis of the concept of a tourist office and records its articles with a brief description of them, introduces the procedure followed for the establishment of the tourist office, ways of acquiring it, the legal framework for setting it up, the criteria for choosing the location of the office, information about the organization and decoration of the space and its equipment. The following chapters give the organizational profile of a tourist office, indicating the departments in which it is divided and the responsibilities they undertake. Emphasis is placed on factors that contribute to the efficiency of staff with their education and development skills as well as the role of the tour operators and their activities. The preparations of the tourist season as well as the operation of the departments of a tourist office are presented in the following chapters. Reference is made to the new trends in the tourist market and the profile depicted by the modern tourist. The last chapters of the paper analyze the ways of presenting and promoting the tourist product with extensive reference to the role of the Internet and the influence of technology on tourism as well as the conclusions on the future of tourist offices.
