Λισγάρα, Ελένη

Nautical Tourism and the yacht charter tourism specifically, has been promoted to a major competitive advantage for the countries involved in its activities, due to the national and international investments it attracts, the number of businesses operating in the sector, the stimulation of employment, the exchange income and -of course- the associated socioeconomic impact in multiple levels. Under the influence of such rapid developments the study of the yacht charter industry becomes more necessary than ever. This study aims to review the yacht charter industry and examine the variables affecting the decision for online chartering, by including electronic tourism aspects and utilizing the advantages of the marketing mix strategic tool. Data collection and analysis was succeeded by quantitative research; while primary data were collected through questionnaires and secondary data derived from study of the international literature. Findings enlighten the importance of marketing mix variables taken into account when it comes to online chartering and provide the basis for optimum allocation of electronic resources to each one of them.
