In this study we examine the mastitis of sheep and goats, as it is the most common cause of the milk production decrease, and also the most frequent infection in the flocks. Initially, the forms of the mastitis, the causes and the predisposing factors, as well as the ways of dealing with them and their prevention are described. Specifically, we examined three ewes milk samples to control sub clinical mastitis. Laboratory testing of these samples, the identification of the cause and antibiotic culture were performed to control the sensitivity of the cause to various antibiotics. The results of the samples we tested showed that all three animals were infected as staphylococcal colonies of St. aureus were developed, and in one sample three colonies of E. coli were observed. An antibiotic culture was used to examine the susceptibility of the bacteria to be able to choose the appropriate antibiotic for the treatment. Our results showed that St. aureus was more susceptible to amoxicillin and ampicillin. In conclusion, by applying good hygiene practices and systemati cally controlling the milk produced, the producer can anticipate an initial contamination and act immediately prior to the occurrence of the mastitis.
