With the continued removal of children from nature and the natural environment, it is more than ever necessary to develop environmental friendly behaviors (Papadonikolakis, 2018).
This master's thesis attempts to present and explain the shape, role and function of the school garden and through scientific targeting, analysis and exploration to
highlight its importance as an innovative educational tool for raising pupils' awareness
in protection of the natural environment.
According to Williams, Panagiotidou (2013), "It is impossible for a child
working in the garden not to co-ordinate with certain laws, stirring the soil tirelessly
to leave the air and the air , nature, sinking secretly, deep into his heart ".
The work is done on five subject areas. The first thematic section analyzes and
incorporates innovation in education and includes an iterative review. The course of
good educational practices on environmental issues is also presented. The second
thematic section presents the transition of school gardens, from rural areas to urban
areas, the historical presentation and reflection of gardens in schools. The Third Thematic Unit studies the school gardens as innovative educational tools in education in
various states and across Greece. The fourth thematic section of the paper presents the
researcher's perceptual outline, research methodology and data analysis method. Finally, the fifth thematic section presents the research results.
This qualitative work concludes with conclusions and discussion on the pedagogical and educational significance of the school garden as an innovative tool for
sensitizing students to environmental issues at a time of constant change and evolving.
In the last part there are suggestions for the use of school gardens in schools and
school environments. School gardens are ideal spaces for students to ask and answer
on multifactoral issues of many sciences (Graves, Hughes, and Balgopal, 2016).

| Abstract: | Με τη συνεχιζόμενη απομάκρυνση των παιδιών από τη φύση και το φυσικό
περιβάλλον είναι περισσότερο από ποτέ αναγκαίο, να αναπτύξουν συμπεριφορές
φιλικές προς το περιβάλλον (Παπαδονικολάκη, 2018).
Η παρούσα μεταπτυχιακή εργασία επιχειρεί να παρουσιάσει και να εξηγήσει
τη μορφή, το ρόλο και τη λειτουργία του σχολικού κήπου και μέσα από
επιστημονική στόχευση, ανάλυση και διερεύνηση να αναδείξει τη σημασία του, ως
καινοτόμο εκπαιδευτικό εργαλείο για την ευαισθητοποίηση των μαθητών/τριών στην
προστασία του φυσικού περιβάλλοντος.
Σύμφωνα με την Williams που αναφέρεται η Παναγιωτίδου (2013) «Είναι
αδύνατο για ένα παιδί που εργάζεται στον κήπο να μη συντονιστεί με ορισμένους
παγκόσμιους νόμους, ανακατεύοντας το έδαφος ακούραστα έτσι ώστε να αφήσει την
υγρασία και τον αέρα, τη φύση, να βυθιστεί μυστικά, βαθιά μέσα στην καρδιά του».
Η εργασία εκπονείται πάνω σε πέντε θεματικές ενότητες. Η πρώτη θεματική
ενότητα αναλύει και εμπεριέχει την καινοτομία στην εκπαίδευση και περιλαμβάνει
ιστορική αναδρομή. Παρουσιάζεται επίσης η πορεία καλών εκπαιδευτικών
πρακτικών σε θέματα προστασίας του περιβάλλοντος. Η δεύτερη θεματική ενότητα,
παρουσιάζει τη μετάβαση των σχολικών κήπων, από τους αγροτικούς χώρους σε
αστικούς χώρους, την ιστορική παρουσίαση και αναδρομή των κήπων στα σχολεία. Η
τρίτη θεματική ενότητα μελετάει τους σχολικούς κήπους, ως καινοτόμα
εκπαιδευτικά εργαλεία στην εκπαίδευση σε διάφορα κράτη και ανά την Ελλάδα. Η
τέταρτη θεματική ενότητα της εργασίας παρουσιάζει το αντιληπτικό περίγραμμα
του ερευνητή, τη μεθοδολογία της έρευνας και τη μέθοδο ανάλυσης δεδομένων.
Τέλος στην πέμπτη θεματική ενότητα παρουσιάζονται τα ερευνητικά αποτελέσματα.
Η παρούσα ποιοτική εργασία καταλήγει με συμπεράσματα και συζήτηση
πάνω στην παιδαγωγική και εκπαιδευτική σημασία του σχολικού κήπου ως
καινοτόμου εργαλείου ευαισθητοποίησης των μαθητών/μαθητριών σε θέματα
περιβάλλοντος, σε μια εποχή που διαρκώς αλλάζει και εξελίσσεται.
Στο τελευταίο μέρος παρατίθενται προτάσεις αξιοποίησης των σχολικών
κήπων στα σχολεία και σε σχολικά περιβάλλοντα. Οι σχολικοί κήποι είναι ιδανικοί
χώροι για τους/τις μαθητές/μαθήτριες να ρωτούν και να απαντούν πάνω σε
πολυπαραγοντικά ζητήματα πολλών επιστημών (Graves, Hughes, and Balgopal,
