The subject addressed by this study concerns the pedagogical duties of the Director of Primary and Secondary Schools and is being evaluated by the teachers who serve them. The theoretical and empirical approach to the subject is made in order to determine whether the applicable theoretical legislation and pedagogical science are applied in the school context. In addition, it is attempted to outline the existing situation in the school units with regard to specific parameters - aspects resulting from the pedagogical role of the director eg. forms of pedagogical intervention and animation, education and training, school climate, evaluation etc. This endeavor aims to improve the current situation through the feedback and improvement measures proposed in this research. The survey involved 1,000 teachers, coming from all the country's schools. The theoretical part of the study refers to legislation related to pedagogical tasks and attempts the theoretical approach of the most important of them. The empirical part includes research methodology, research findings, concluding findings and proposals. As found in the research findings, directors neglected their pedagogical duties, mainly due to increased administrative obligations. A number of suggestions are listed in the last section of the paper
