The purpose of this study is to investigate the extent to which teachers’ evaluation, within the framework of the human resources management in the schools, contributes to the improvement of the quality of the educational work. In order to meet this goal, a review of the Greek and international literature was conducted, on the way in which evaluation as a process and evaluation systems contribute to the improvement of the education provided and to the enhancement of the student outcomes. Further to the previous study a survey took place with the help of a structured questionnaire containing Likert scale questions, in a sample of 205 primary and secondary teachers in Pieria region, in order to explore teachers views and attitudes towards the evaluation process and the different evaluation systems, as well as the extent to which the educational assessment contributes to improving the quality of the educational work. The results showed that teachers generally have a positive attitude towards the evaluation process but they disagree with the way the educational assessment was implemented in the country and they have not shown agreement if this process will improve their career but they agree that it helps the educational system to further improvement.
