The motives of adult involvement in educational activities are the main subject of the adult education scientific field. This is the reason why they have been the object of study for numerous researchers worldwide despite the complexity of their investigation, but also in our country as they are of particular research interest, especially considering the current economic situation, which may significantly affects these reasons in a variety of ways. This thesis is an investigation into the motives for participation in Adult Education. The research field is, at the same time, expanded to include distance learning. The aim of the research is to demonstrate the motivation of adult students to continue their postgraduate education, the criteria for their selection of the postgraduate study program of the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki in the " Management and Organization of Educational Units", as well as the degree of satisfaction after completing it . The postgraduate students (n = 147) enrolled during the year 2017-2018 completed a questionnaire of 34 questions based on the Boshier Education Participation Scale, which is a typology of the seven factors that describe the incentives that motivate adult learners to participate in training programs. The questionnaire is the basic tool of this quantitative research, which draws significant conclusions for adult learners, their characteristics, and for the postgraduate program of the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki.
