Nowadays, rapid developments in the political, social, technological and economic spheres also bring about significant changes in the workplace. The labor market to meet current demands increases its requirements, creating a competitive environment both between business organizations and employees of an organization. The educational field, accepting the effects from the rest, as there is a relationship of dependence - interaction between them, changes and evolves continuously. Ensuring success through the effective operation of the school unit is considered a key concern of each school organization. The communication skills of the school head ensure better communication between the members of the school community, positively influencing the smooth and efficient operation of the school. The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of communication skills of the primary school unit manager in its proper functioning, from the point of view of the teachers. For this reason, the opinion of 202 primary school teachers in Ioannina was asked about: ✓ The quality of the relationships between them and their Director ✓ The degree of communication skills available to their Director ✓ The importance of communication skills in the smooth operation of the school unit. The data were obtained through quantitative research, having as a research tool the questionnaire. The results of the survey after data collection have shown that the majority of teachers believe that: ✓ The communication relations between the teachers and the managers are quite good and there is a climate of cooperation between them ✓ Managers have communication skills to a satisfactory degree ✓ Communication skills are an essential component of the effective school unit and ensure its smooth operation.
