Ο ρόλος του διευθυντή σχολικής μονάδας πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης στο πλαίσιο της επικοινωνίας με το εξωτερικό περιβάλλον του σχολείου: Η περίπτωση του νομού Κιλκίς (Master thesis)

Communication, which constitutes the cornerstone of interpersonal relations, is
closely connected with school administrators and takes place in both the internal and external
environment of school units. In light of this, the subject matter of this research study is to
explore the role of primary school principals in relation to communicating with the external
environment of the school (students’ parents and guardians, schools on the same or different
stage, and local community institutions). Specifically, this study examines the views of 30
Elementary School Principals/Directors in the Prefecture of Kilkis, with respect to how they
perceive their role in communicating with the external environment of the school and the
significance which they attribute to this communication. Moreover, it examines the actions
which principals seek to collaborate with the external environment of the school as well as the
problems that occur during this communication process.
A qualitative research study was conducted comprising semi-structured interviews
with open-ended questions. This specific research method was selected with the aim of
analysing data in depth. The conclusions drawn proved to be exceptional. Firstly, it was
noticed that the principals’ role consists in representing the school so that they connect it with
the wider society and in collaborating with various institutions so that problems arising within
the school unit are resolved and the educational process is advanced. It was additionally
concluded that communication taking place in the external environment of the school is
particularly important for opening up the school unit to the society and that parents, local
community institutions, and other schools have a positive contribution to the school’s
function. Finally, it was concluded that most problems arising in the process of
communication with the external environment of the school unit derive from interactions
between the school’s leadership and students’ parents and guardians.

| Abstract: | Η επικοινωνία, η οποία συνιστά θεμέλιο λίθο των διαπροσωπικών σχέσεων, είναι
στενά συνδεδεμένη με τα στελέχη διοίκησης των σχολείων και λαμβάνει χώρα τόσο στο
εσωτερικό όσο και στο εξωτερικό περιβάλλον των σχολικών μονάδων. Υπό το πρίσμα αυτό,
το αντικείμενο μελέτης της παρούσας έρευνας είναι η διερεύνηση του ρόλου του διευθυντή
σχολικής μονάδας πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης, στο πλαίσιο της επικοινωνίας με το εξωτερικό
περιβάλλον του σχολείου (γονείς και κηδεμόνες των μαθητών, σχολεία ίδιας ή διαφορετικής
βαθμίδας και φορείς της τοπικής κοινωνίας). Συγκεκριμένα, εξετάζονται οι απόψεις 30
Διευθυντών/Προϊσταμένων των Δημοτικών Σχολείων του Νομού Κιλκίς, απέναντι στο πώς
αντιλαμβάνονται το ρόλο τους στο πλαίσιο της επικοινωνίας με το εξωτερικό περιβάλλον του
σχολείου και στη σημασία την οποία αποδίδουν στην επικοινωνία αυτή. Διερευνώνται επίσης
οι ενέργειες στις οποίες προβαίνουν οι διευθυντές, προκειμένου να συνεργαστούν με το
εξωτερικό περιβάλλον του σχολείου, καθώς και τα προβλήματα που ανακύπτουν κατά την
επικοινωνιακή αυτή διαδικασία.
Πραγματοποιήθηκε ποιοτική έρευνα, στα πλαίσια της οποίας διεξήχθησαν ημι δομημένες συνεντεύξεις με ερωτήματα ανοιχτού τύπου. Το συγκεκριμένο ερευνητικό
εργαλείο επιλέχθηκε προκειμένου να γίνει εις βάθος ανάλυση των δεδομένων. Τα
συμπεράσματα τα οποία εξήχθησαν καθίστανται εξαιρετικά. Αρχικά, διαπιστώθηκε ότι o
ρόλος του διευθυντή έγκειται στο να εκπροσωπεί το σχολείο για να το φέρει σε επαφή με την
ευρύτερη κοινωνία και στο να συνεργάζεται με διάφορους φορείς, προκειμένου να επιλύονται
τα προβλήματα που ανακύπτουν στη σχολική μονάδα και να προάγεται η μαθησιακή
διαδικασία. Εξήχθη επίσης το συμπέρασμα, ότι η επικοινωνία που λαμβάνει χώρα στο
εξωτερικό περιβάλλον του σχολείου είναι ιδιαίτερα σημαντική για το άνοιγμα της σχολικής
μονάδας στην κοινωνία και ότι οι γονείς, οι φορείς της τοπικής κοινωνίας και τα άλλα
σχολεία συμβάλλουν αποτελεσματικά στη λειτουργία του σχολείου. Τέλος, διαπιστώθηκε ότι
τα περισσότερα προβλήματα που ανακύπτουν κατά τη διαδικασία της επικοινωνίας με το
εξωτερικό περιβάλλον της σχολικής μονάδας, απορρέουν από την αλληλεπίδραση που
λαμβάνει χώρα μεταξύ της ηγεσίας της σχολικής μονάδας και των γονέων και κηδεμόνων
των μαθητών.
