Διοίκηση ολικής ποιότητας και αξιολόγηση εκπαιδευτικού έργου: Απόψεις και αντιλήψεις των εκπαιδευτικών πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης (Master thesis)

In the context of the reflections on the implementation of Total Quality Management principles and evaluation to public educational institutions, it is important to explore the teachers’ views regarding the issue above, as well as the potential benefits and barriers to its implementation and the necessity of evaluating the educational work by appropriate bodies as an integral part of TQM. The present study aims to detect teachers’ views in order to provide useful information to highlight the need for upgrading education through the introduction of quality improvement procedures, the evaluation of educational work and the development of quality culture. The research methodology is based on a quantitative analysis of data obtained from appropriately designed questionnaires which were answered by 158 Primary Education teachers. The statistical analysis of the variables was carried out using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). According to the results of the survey, most principles of TQM seem to apply to schools at a percentage above average. Surely, the difficulty of applying the principles of TQM is highlighted, due to existing barriers in education, but at the same time the participants recognize its advantages for education. In addition, the majority of the sample supports the necessity of evaluating the educational work of schools and teachers as well as its particular parameters, as they agree with its objectives identifying the teacher himself as the most appropriate body for evaluating his own work.
