The aim of the planned education policies in each country is to improve the quality of the education provided and increase the learning outcomes. It is commonly accepted on a global scale that proper and appropriate educational data, data-based decision making and the development of effective educational information management systems for statistical data are factors that help achieve the goal. In the school year 2013-2014, the Ministry of Education put into operation the web application called MySchool, which is defined as a single information system aiming at the computerized support of the school units and administrative structures of education in the Greek territory. The primary objective of this research is to explore the possibilities of using the MySchool information system as a tool for supporting decision making that can improve the quality of the education provided. In order to achieve the goal, we are initially studying and analyzing the existing MySchool structure at the level of the school unit, its functions and the information it manages to capture the possibilities it provides for more efficient management and decision-making to improve its operation school. At the same time, bibliographic research is being carried out on information systems of management in education at the cutting edge of technology and on scientific references relating to their contribution, the experiences gained and their contribution to the improvement of the educational process. Additionally, through primary research into school unit managers, the needs of school units in information-based decision-making are explored. The aim of the thesis is to formulate MySchool extension suggestions that could be new usage scenarios that will enhance the efficiency of administration through smart decision support technicians.
