10AbstractPurpose: The purpose of our research is to examine consumers’ knowledge, opinions and attitudes about nutritional labeling and food labels.Method: Firstly, bibliographic research was conducted on the theoretical part of the work. In the experimental part of the work was applied a descriptive analysis of the 1200 questionnaires, which given to people who live mainly in the prefectures of Kilkis, Thessaloniki, Laconia and Serres. The statistical significance level was defined as p=0.05 and the analyzes were performed using the statistical package I.B.M Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (S.P.S.S for Windows, V23).Results:The majority of the participants use food labels when buying a productfor the first time. Most participants read the macronutrientsand micronutrients of nutritional labels''often'', as well as nutritional claims. The use ofthe food labelsthe first time a productis purchased seems to be influenced by gender, age and educational level.Discussion:Women tend to readthe basic nutritional information of labels when they buy a productfor the first time more often. Women also pay more attention tothemicronutrients and dietary claimson the food labels.People with a higher educational level seemtoread the nutritional labelsmore frequently when purchasing a product for the first time. Lastly,it is most likely that 31-45 year olds are usingnutritionallabels more often than other age groups.
