Τα βήματα του Αποστόλου Παύλου – Προοπτικές δημιουργίας πολιτιστικής – θρησκευτικής διαδρομής στην Κεντρική Μακεδονία (Master thesis)

Παπανικολάου, Ευγενία

The present paper studies the hypothesis of creation of a tourist route in the region of central Macedonia focusing on the Steps of St. Paul, the Apostle. Through the literature review it has occurred that the issue of the Apostle Paul's Steps has been tackled primarily commercially and less scientifically. Thus, this research aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of this rout. The sample consists of 6 tourism professionals, who through their experience and work are able to have a vast knowledge. The conclusions of the interviews showed that coordination between the parties involved as well as bureaucracy is areutterly important issues. On the other hand, infrastructure, promotion, traffic and seasonality are central points of the Apostle Paul's Tourist Path. In conclusion, it was made clear that the view on this tourist product is relatively common for all participants: The brand name exists in the tourist identity of the country and is strong, certification can have a positive effect if all parties involved act together and the benefits can be not only financial but also cultural and touristic.
