This project is being implemented under the undergraduate program of the Alexander Technical University of Thessaloniki, the Department of Library Science and Information Systems. Initially, for the full understanding of the spectrum covered by this dissertation it is appropriate to quote the concepts and definitions that will be used throughout the writing process. Thus, in part A there is initially the definition of the library as well as an attempt to analyze this concept. At the same time, there are listed the types and services that a modern library can provide. It would not be acceptable, of course, the exclusion of an examination of the effects of the financial crisis on the operation of libraries. Then, some well -known libraries as well as some different library types are listed. In this work the issue is the libraries of the municipality of Delta and more specifically the Diavata library, which will be discussed both in its historical perspective and in its contemporary aspect, in terms of its operation and actions. In the second part of the project, a research is being carried out on the users of the Diavata library. In order to do this research first, similar user surveys should be considered both in Greece and abroad. The method of semi-structured interviews for data collection was used. Based on these data, the users of the library are analyzed and some conclusions are extracted, which are listed at the end before the proposals for future research.
