The purpose of the present study was to investigate the occupational satisfaction and exhaustion of teachers of general and special education in primary education. The specific aims of the research are to investigate the relationship between occupational satisfaction and occupational exhaustion in the field of special and general educationand to investigate the degree of occupational satisfaction and exhaustion and how it differs with respect to individual and demographic characteristics of the respondents. The survey was carried outduring the school year 2019-2020 using an electronic questionnaire and 152 primary and special education teachersin the prefecture of Thessaloniki participated. The results of the research showed that the degree of professional satisfaction of general and special education teachers seems to be generally moderate to high. Factors such as building and logistics infrastructure, the interior and the backyard of the school as well as the opportunities and prospects for teacher development are moderately low in terms of occupational satisfaction.These factors appear to negatively affect these teachers and lead them to emotional exhaustion. However, the interpersonal relationships with the manager and colleagues are high. The same is true of relationships with students and their parents. Occupational burnout ranged from moderate to low, with no differences between general and special education teachers.
