This paper attempts to present the educational policy and criticism of the institutional framework that defined the selection of Public Primary School Principals in Greece, from the establishment of the independent Greek State until 2018. In particular, it is focused on the decade of 2010 and all three pieces of legislation, namely L.3848 / 2010, L.4327 / 2015 and L.4473 / 2017, on the basis of which principals were selected in 2011, 2015 and 2017 respectively. The research part utilized the evaluation tables of the West Thessaloniki Primary Education Department concerning the selection process of School Principals in the crises of 2011, 2015 and 2017 and then compared them using the case study method. . Furthermore, the profile of the candidates and their qualifications with regard to the criteria of scientific and pedagogical training, staffing status, guidance and administrative experience were clarified per crisis and comparatively, in order to investigate the possible impact of changing the legal framework on the profile and the qualifications of the nominee directors and of those who have been elected for over ten years. Finally, the findings of the research are particularly important, as they could be a useful guide to a future further research.
