The area of education is particularly affected by the rapid evolution of technology. In the field of preschool education the IT lesson was integrated into the school curriculum in 2003 so as to help students to become familiar with the use of the computer and its basic functions. Later, in 2011 there was an extent use of new technologies in education in order to enhance the training process of the students.
Nowadays, the use of the new technologies works as a motivating power for learning while at the same time emerges some great advantages such as: help students express themselves throughout creative activities, help them develop their technological skills, fulfill the needs of collaboration and communication. The use of computers in the educational process adds a great deal of high value compared to the traditional ways of teaching that are still used in some cases.
This study which is being carried out in the framework of the postgraduate program " Master of Science in Management & Organization of Educational Units " on account of the "Alexander Technological and Educational Institute of Thessaloniki", aims to present the potentials of utilization of ICT and communication technologies in preschool age.
The research focuses on whether technological tools can help children to better integrate into the educational process at this age. Due to that fact the study includes a research part where the quantitative research tool was used supported by a questionnaire. A total of 88 preschool educators coming from the area of Thessaloniki were the sample of the research. After recording the respondents' views and presenting the main findings of the research it has emerged that the use of the computer in early stages of childhood by children during class contributes positively to their intellectual development and children are assisted by its use. Finally, it appears that the use of the computers in kindergarten do not only apply on the performance of administrative functions. Also a good preparation by teachers is required.
