The educational system is formed by the way the state functions in a political and financial level. The educational policy is affected by political, financial and socio-cultural factors. According to the existing bibliography, the impact of the financial models of every government has a major influence in the way the educational policies are formed. A frequent phenomenon which occurs is the decentralization of specific aspects of education in an institutional frame. The major political-financial models that are found in Europe and shape the educational policy are the liberal and the social-democratic (Kumar & Sarangapani, 2004). The educational institutions are found in a complicated social and organizational setting where many external factors direct the teaching and educational procedures. In Greece, the history of education has shown that the educational policies conform to the ideological and financial policy that is followed by the respective government. Education is in service of the nation-state, as it is shaped by the educational policies selected by the national government (Cooper et al., 2009). Greece as a case study consists a typical example of a country, where the educational policy is formed according to the directions of the country’s government. That happens due to the centralist character of the educational system that is formed by the Ministry of Education and does not leave any room for the choices of the educational staff or the leadership of the school units. In Greece, the educational system consists a field where they practise a policy that echoes the political-financial identity of the government. The contribution of the financial approach that the educational system follows is also important, because it is significantly intermingled with the form and the quality of the available means which are offered by the state.
