This dissertation refers to the construction of a sewer system expansion in eastern Thessaloniki, which is part of the central sewer system of Thessaloniki Water Supply and Sewerage CO.S.A. (EYATH). The case study is based in an actual project of EYATH and was conducted according: a. the specifications of the potential constructor and the respective legislation, b. the market research and the construction planning, based on real events and information, c. the construction development according to the tender notices. The layout of the project: in the first chapter is mentioned the legal framework of the water supply company of Thessaloniki (EYATH). Specifically it is described the legislation and the regulatory status of the company which is used for the project assignments, the case execution and the service provision. In the second chapter are presented the basic characteristics of the project, starting with the description of the sewer system and the areas of activity of the company and ending up with the analytical description of the case study. The third chapter is about the phases of the construction, the types of the assignments, and the budget of the project. In the fourth chapter are thoroughly described the most important and crucial tasks and assignments. At the end, are presented the conclusions of the previous chapters and the final conclusions about the sewer systems in urban areas, the findings of the case study and finally are suggested some improvement measures for the project.
