The following thesis presents in details a very important European airport, the Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium. The purpose of this thesis is the presentation and introduction of the airport. More precisely: the location, the facilities and the services in the airport and around the airport, the passenger ground services, the handling department and also the explanation of the exponential growth that it has faced the last years. With my personal experience and knowledge I acquired following my internship at the Brussels South Charleroi Airport, I had the opportunity to present closely all of the above cited aspects of the airport. Consequently I analyzed the growth of the BSCA due to the growth of the Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) by delving into statistics and into the LCCs relationship with secondary airports. I collected a lot of informations about the growth of the LCCs and the secondary airports by studying different scientific articles and from the internet. Through the research that I made for the presentation of the airport I came to the conclusion that the growth of the BSCA has a lot to do with the link between the airport and the LCCs, and especially with Ryanair that is in many ways the reason of the development of the airport. Finally, I mention some future plans of the BSCA that are likely to be realized due to the constantly growing number of passengers that travel to and from the airport.
