This thesis at the beginning provides an overview of Internet of Things
technology (Internet of Things) with an emphasis on microcontrollers and specifically on the Arduino platform. In subsequent years, the rapid
evolution of Internet of Things technology is expected to continue, with
the creation of many new applications involved with the our everyday life (electrical appliances, cars), resulting in these things having the ability to make decisions and become “smarter”. The potential benefits of this technology are unlimited and its applications will change our everyday lives. In the first chapter we will make and introduction to the idea of Internet of Things technology and microcontrollers. We will explore the Arduino platform in more detail, its development environment, we will talk about its peripherals and we will refer to other platforms suitable for developing IoT applications. Then in the second chapter, we will program an Arduino from scratch and create four applications for beginners. In the third chapter we will continue with four more advanced applications. In the last chapter we will focus on sensor networks and wireless communication between two or more Arduino. Finally we will build two applications. One simple wireless network with two Arduino and with the NRF24L01 module and one wireless weather station
