The present study includes almost every aspect concerning conflict management in a school unit, as well as the school principal’s role on this subject. He or she has an attitude towards the other staff, a way to manage the school unit and a few decisions to take when it comes to the conflict solving. The emotional intelligence issue composes a serious parameter, since it helps holder to better understand the people needs around him. So, starting over with a few basic definitions, the study describes in its first chapter the term of conflict, the forms someone can encounter it in a school environment, its consequences and the techniques used in order to solve a conflict effectively. At the end of the chapter, there arereferences concerning the emotional intelligence of a principal.
In the second chapter of the study, an introduction to the school units takes place, primarily to the school environment, the school principal and the leadership term, since the study concerns the role the school-head plays. There are also mentions about a few major conflict causes, as well as the school-head role for their settlement. In addition, a few empirical studies are presented concerning the conflict management and an in-depth analysis of the strategies with which a conflict can be solved, takes also place. At the end of the second chapter, there are methods for conflict management used by school principals, dealing-with techniques according to the results extracted, as well as how conflicts are solved when third persons intervene.
In the third and final chapter of the study, research results are presented while various annotations are made. More specifically, the research sample is presented, the tools used to gather the answers of those took part and finally, how these results were analyzed by statistical programs. The study closes with the all-around conclusions and the literature used during the theoretical description.
