Κριτήρια και παράγοντες διαμόρφωσης βρεφικών και προνηπιακών τμημάτων σε δομές προσχολικής αγωγής (Bachelor thesis)

In the present work, the condition of nurseries and kindergartens operating under the supervision of the Municipalities of our country was investigated. It was carried out in kindergartens and nurseries located throughout the country and focused on three pillars. The first pillar concerns the social policy that municipalities choose to pursue in preschool education. The second pillar relates to the adequacy of positions for both infants and toddlers and the third concerns how kindergartens and nurseries seem to be viewed by parents, their culture and what their requirements and expectations appear to be when they enroll an infant or a toddler in a kindergarten structure of a municipality. The semi-structured interview with 20 open-ended questions and a demographic questionnaire were used as the research tool. The sample of the study consisted of 14 directors and presidents of preschool structures and their selection was made using the strategy of maximum variation heterogeneity sampling. The results showed the strong interest of the municipal authorities for the operation of adequate preschool structures. The statistics of the Hellenic Association for Local Development and Local Government (EETAA 2013) reporting a limited number of positions for infants in our country were confirmed. However, as shown by this research, this number is being reformulated, as municipalities move towards the creation of new structures for infants following the introduction of compulsory two-year preschool education. Finally, from the third pillar of the research, it emerged that the demand from parents is for more care and less education from preschool structures.
