This work deals with the selection of the Education Executives of the period 2007-2019 in Greece and more specifically looks at the case of School Principals. In the first part, the theoretical, it clarifies the terms relating to Management, Organization, Leadership, Public Management and presents the legislative framework, according to which the selection of the Secondary School Principals took place in the last twelve years. In the second part, the research, through a questionnaire and statistical analysis method, teachers' views on the process and the criteria of selection are presented. The present work was carried out in order to create reflection and to formulate proposals on the important issue of the selection process for school principals, with an emphasis on the last decade (2007-2019), during which principals' judgments took place four times. The purpose of the research is the qualifications and skills of the school principals, men or women, which contribute to the effective management of the school to be determined by teachers. Teachers can evaluate the criteria that are considered to be the most important for the selection of school principals in the case of selection by school teachers. To identify also the processes that converge to the direction of meritocratic selection of School Principals and finally identify the characteristics of the successful Principal. In the last part of the paper the conclusions and suggestions are formulated.
