This work is a complete and detailed example of the process of organizing and managing library material of the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography. In fact, it was developed within the framework of the completion of the cycle of studies of the Library and Information Systems Department of Thessaloniki. As a central axis of the wider effort, it is set to achieve the organization of a respected part of library material in order to open its doors to the public whose needs it can serve. In fact, the realization of the effort is proved in the fact that, initially, thematic indexing and classification of the documents was modeled on the classification system of the congressional library, and consequently a descriptive cataloging of these in the automated KOHA system. In addition, the preservation and selection procedures for removing or acquiring material, as well as the necessary spatial interventions in the library area, are considered to be of the utmost importance for ensuring the best possible functional organization. Throughout the practical part of the work until its completion, some basic conclusions have been obtained, which are also confirmed on the basis of the relevant bibliography studied for writing the theoretical part. Indicatively, on the one hand, scientifically it is understood that the organization of a library requires a particular commitment, and usually evolves in the long run, especially in the case of a large volume of material. Indeed, this is the example of the THMPH library and it is worth noting that in these cases, it is estimated that the project should be a product of collaboration for faster and, possibly, more worthwhile results. On the other hand, it is clear from every angle, the prominent role of the librarian, the know-how of which takes the form of a library and therefore its users can be served. Ultimately, if the achievement of the objectives through the methods of approaching the subject is realized, the aim of the work is also wider, so that it is the trigger for the opening of the THMPH library.
