Tourism in the Prefecture of Pieria is an important economic size for the region. The great natural wealth of the prefecture, combined with the history of the place, make Pieria an attraction for many tourists, both from inside and outside. It is the third-largest contributor to tourism in the Region of Central Macedonia. Pieria, in addition to the traditional form of tourism in Greece, based on the "Sun and the Sea", can offer the tourist what he wants, a variety of alternative forms of tourism, contributing decisively to the tourism seasonality. Despite the financial crisis, the tourism industry in the prefecture seems to be booming, generating significant profits, especially from tourists from foreign countries. | Abstract: | Ο τουρισμός στο Νομό Πιερίας αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό οικονομικό μέγεθος για την περιοχή. Ο μεγάλος φυσικός πλούτος του νομού, σε συνδυασμό με την ιστορία του τόπου, καθιστούν την Πιερία πόλο έλξης για πλήθος τουριστών τόσο από το εσωτερικό, όσο και από το εξωτερικό. Πρόκειται για το Νομό με την τρίτη μεγαλύτερη συνεισφορά στον τουρισμό της Περιφέρειας Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας. Η Πιερία, πέρα από την κλασική μορφή του τουρισμού στην Ελλάδα, που βασίζεται στον «Ήλιο και τη Θάλασσα», δύναται να προσφέρει στον τουρίστα που το επιθυμεί, πλήθος εναλλακτικών μορφών τουρισμού, συμβάλλοντας αποφασιστικά και στην καταπολέμηση της εποχικότητας του τουρισμού. Παρά την οικονομική κρίση, ο τουριστικός κλάδος στο νομό φαίνεται να ανθεί, αποφέροντας σημαντικά κέρδη, ιδίως από τουρίστες που προέρχονται από χώρες του εξωτερικού.
