Introduction: Fencing is an ancient sport, which evolved to the form we know, over the years. The three weapons (épée, foil and sabre) are essential for the sport to be played. Also, some special equipment, the protective clothing and organized facilities are needed in order
for someone to fence. Every game of fencing is a combination of movements and tactics and the goal is to touch the opponent first. An athlete wins when they reach 5 (in pools) or 15 (in direct eliminations) points before the opponent. All the athletes have to conform with the rules of the International Federation, in order to have a regular prosecution of the tournaments. Besides classic fencing, there is also wheelchair fencing. There are many similarities with classic fencing, however, some changes had to be made. Athletes are classified in categories, taking into consideration their disability, in order to participate in tournaments.
