Φυσιοθεραπευτική παρέμβαση σε παιδιά και εφήβους με κρανιοεγκεφαλική κάκωση (Bachelor thesis)

The main point of this study is to give prominence to the form of intervention and effect of physiotherapy in children and teenagers that have suffered from traumatic brain injury, from their admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) until the last stages of their rehabilitation. A literature review has been conducted on the platforms PubMed and PEDro. The following filters were used for the research: clinical trials and literature reviews, publication dates within 5 years, humans, English and Greek language. 207 articles were found and studied, of which 173 were rejected because whether they existed in duplicate, were irrelevant to the study or weren't available in full-text. From the remaining 34 articles, the full-text articles were studied. 8 more articles were rejected because of irrelevance to the topic of this study. In the end, 26 articles were used. The results of this research indicated that physiotherapy of patients that have suffered from traumatic brain injury can be extremely effective in the improvement of the respiratory function, the mobility and the retraining of the motor patterns. There are investigations that are referring to some methods that are used in neurological patients, some of which are presented in this study. However, the rehabilitation of children and teenagers depends on numerous factors as the patient's age, the severity of the damage, the area of the injury, etc. This fact makes the rehabilitation even more complicated and harder.

| Abstract: | Στόχος της εργασίας είναι να αναδειχθεί η φυσικοθεραπευτική παρέμβαση και η επίδρασή της σε παιδιά και εφήβους που έχουν υποστεί κρανιοεγκεφαλική κάκωση, από την στιγμή της εισαγωγής τους στην Μονάδα Εντατικής Θεραπείας μέχρι τα τελευταία στάδια της φυσικοθεραπευτικής τους αποκατάστασης. Πραγματοποιήθηκε βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση στις ηλεκτρονικές βάσεις δεδομένων PubMed και PEDro. Η αναζήτηση έγινε με την χρήση των φίλτρων: κλινικές έρευνες και βιβλιογραφικές ανασκοπήσεις, άρθρα πενταετίας, μόνο σε ανθρώπους, στην Αγγλική και Ελληνική γλώσσα. Η αναζήτηση επέφερε 207 εγγραφές, οι οποίες μελετήθηκαν σε επίπεδο τίτλου και περίληψης. Από αυτές 173 απορρίφθηκαν διότι υπήρχαν διπλές εγγραφές, δεν σχετίζονταν με το θέμα της εργασίας ή δεν ήταν διαθέσιμες σε πλήρες κείμενο. Από τα εναπομείναντα 34 εξασφαλίστηκε και μελετήθηκε το πλήρες κείμενο. Άλλα 8 άρθρα απορρίφθηκαν σε επίπεδο πλήρους κειμένου καθώς δεν ήταν συναφή με τον σκοπό της εργασίας. Τελικά, για την μελέτη αυτή αξιοποιήθηκαν 26 άρθρα. Τα αποτελέσματα της αναζήτησης έδειξαν πως η φυσικοθεραπεία στις περιπτώσεις των ασθενών με κρανιοεγκεφαλική κάκωση συμβάλλει στην βελτίωση της αναπνευστικής λειτουργίας και της κινητικότητάς τους καθώς και στην επανεκπαίδευση των κινητικών προτύπων. Υπάρχουν έρευνες, από αυτές που μελετήθηκαν, οι οποίες αναφέρονται σε κάποιες από τις μεθόδους που χρησιμοποιούνται σε νευρολογικούς ασθενείς, μερικές από τις οποίες παρουσιάζονται στη συγκεκριμένη μελέτη. Ωστόσο, επισημαίνεται ότι η αποκατάσταση των παιδιών και εφήβων εξαρτάται από πολλούς παράγοντες όπως η ηλικία του εκάστοτε ασθενή, η σοβαρότητα της βλάβης, η περιοχή του τραυματισμού, κ.ά.
