Νοσοκομείο προσφιλές προς τα βρέφη και μέθοδος καγκουρό στην ΜΕΝΝ πιλοτική μελέτη στην ΜΕΝΝ ΕΣΥ Ιπποκρατείου (Master thesis)

The services of Baby Friendly Hospitals are indicators of the quality provided by the health services. The applied practices allow the development of a strong mother-neonatal bonding and set the conditions for exclusive and longer-term breastfeeding. These reasons led to the need to extend the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative to the Neonatal Intensive Care Units. The basic condition for classifying a NICU as Baby Friendly is the possibility of providing Kangaroo Care to hospitalized neonates. Kangaroo Care is defined as the timely, prolonged and continuous skin-to-skin contact between mother/father and the neonate. This multiple case study attempts to investigate the effects of the application of Kangaroo Care on newborns and their parents in the NICU of a Hellenic Hospital in relation to the potential benefits of the method for neonates and parents and the conditions necessary for the application of the method.

| Abstract: | Οι υπηρεσίες των Φιλικών προς τα Βρέφη Νοσοκομείων αποτελούν δείκτες ποιότητας των παρεχόμενων υπηρεσιών υγείας. Οι πρακτικές που εφαρμόζονται, επιτρέπουν την ανάπτυξη ισχυρών δεσμών σύνδεσης μητέρας-νεογνού και θέτουν τις προϋποθέσεις για αποκλειστικό και μεγαλύτερης διάρκειας θηλασμό. Αυτοί οι λόγοι οδήγησαν στην ανάγκη της επέκτασης της Πρωτοβουλίας για τα Φιλικά προς τα Βρέφη Νοσοκομεία και στις Μονάδες Εντατικής Νοσηλείας Νεογνών. Βασική προϋπόθεση για να χαρακτηριστεί μια ΜΕΝΝ ως Φιλική προς τα Βρέφη, είναι η δυνατότητα παροχής Φροντίδας Καγκουρό στα νοσηλευόμενα νεογνά. Ως Φροντίδα Καγκουρό ορίζεται η έγκαιρη, παρατεταμένη και συνεχής επαφή δέρμα με δέρμα μεταξύ μητέρας/πατέρα και νεογνού. Σε αυτή την πολλαπλή μελέτη περίπτωσης επιχειρείται η διερεύνηση των επιδράσεων της εφαρμογής της Φροντίδας Καγκουρό στα νεογνά και στους γονείς τους σε μια ΜΕΝΝ Ελληνικού Νοσοκομείου ως προς τα πιθανά οφέλη της μεθόδου για τα νεογνά, τα πιθανά οφέλη για τους γονείς και των συνθηκών που είναι απαραίτητες για την εφαρμογή της μεθόδου.
