This dissertation deals with the examination of the contribution of the aviation sector into tourism. In particular, we will study the case of the region of Central Macedonia. The first section as an introduction, of presents the contribution of tourism to the European and Greek economy. Simultaneously, presents the characteristics the Greek tourist product which are listed, as well as the historical background of the aviation sector in our country. The second section deals with the spread and development of air transport in recent years, as well as the supply and demand of air services. The third section lists the air transport issue in Europe and Greece and focuses on Greek companies and regional airports. The fourth section specializes in the study of the region of Central Macedonia, as a tourist destination in connection with the air transport and ground services that are provided. Finally, the fifth section presents the conclusions of the research and the critical analysis of the positive and negative characteristics of air transport section in the region of Central Macedonia as well as its further study in future.
