‘Μέθοδοι και τεχνικές διαχείρισης κατασκευής στο έργο: Επέκταση Διαδρόμου Προσαπογειώσεων Αεροσκαφών 10-28 (Μετά παραλλήλου τροχοδρόμου) Κρατικού Αερολιμένα Θεσσαλονίκης- Μακεδονία’ (Master thesis)
Βλάχος, Ευάγγελος
The scope of this thesis is to present all the methods and techniques for the extension of runway 10-28 (and adjoining taxiways) of the state airport of Thessaloniki-‘Makedonia’ and how the contractor finally managed all the problems that arose. Firstly, all the works that took place are briefly mentioned as a general description of the project. Furthermore, two big problems that almost doubled the time schedule are described. Those were the change of sandgravel quarry which was close to the construction site with a new one much furtheraway that required new specialised equipment and the fact that the gound settlements took much more time than the expected. Those two reasons resulted in over 7,5 years delay and 25% cost increase. Moreover, the settlements at Macedonia airport are compared with those at Kansai airport in Japan. Regarding the construction of the metal bridge, reference is made to the actions that were taken to avoid a six-month delay in comparison to a similar metal project like the LNG Terminal in Malta. Finally, the settelement data, the methods of management of backfilling material (sandgravel) and the construction of the metal bridge are analyzed.
