This paper negotiates the stress of the employees and the occupational exhaustion, two phenomena that affect the educational work. Researches in Greece and abroad have shown that work-related stress has affected the performance and health of the employees in education. In this result contributes the financial crisis which has brought many changes in the work environment, adding more encumbrances to the teachers. This research has been conducted in the prefecture of Larissa in the effort of finding the causes and the consequences of the problem in the work environment of employees of kindergartens and nursery schools of the prefecture of Larissa. The method that we followed is the quantitative approach with questionnaires that we processed with the statistical software SPSS. In this effort there were 158 teachers of preschool education of the statute of Larissa. Consequently, it was observed that the teachers are experiencing stress in their work environment but not at an extreme point. The main causes of the creation of stress seem to be the crowded classrooms (as far as the number of students is concerned), the problem of infrastructure, the lack of opportunities of evolution in their career and the frequent changes in the educational system. Undoubtedly, the financial crisis of the last years constitutes a great damage to the teachers, who are experiencing stress, feeling insecure and harbor fears due to the possible loss of their job. Due to the economic issues of our home country, it has been found that on the one hand there have been differentiations in their work environment but on the other hand under no circumstances do teachers experience work-related stress.
