Title: Cinema make-up The history of cinema make-up is closely linked to the history of cinema itself. In the present thesis, first, an overview of the history of makeup is attempted. Various make-up techniques that are used in the context of a film production are analyzed and special effects are examined in particular, without the utilization of which the cinema would not have evolved as it does today. After the definition of make-up, and the presentation of its categories, as well, its course from the primitive peoples to the modern era is analyzed. Afterwards, an analysis of the basic makeup products and the tools used in professional makeup is conducted. Then, the cinema makeup is analyzed. More specifically, there is a brief historical review from the period piece movies to the modern cinema, through which it is highlighted how the cinematic make-up is created. Next, special effects are mentioned and more specifically, the aging processes, beards, wigs, baldness and eyebrows, the formation of bruises and various wounds, such as cuts, scars, burns, etc. are mentioned. Then the section of face painting is analyzed. It shows how makeup is created for some very popular disguises, such as clowns, fairies and elves, witches, piercos and some animals. Next, the way in which tribal makeup can be created with face painting is analyzed. In addition, there is a reference to the makeup of Indian, people of color, Egyptians and Geishas. Finally, the make-up used in ballet, classic and modern, and children's make-up are analyzed and what a make-up artist should know about its application.
