Diabetic nephropathy is one of the most common microvascular complications of Type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus, as well as the most common cause of end-stage kidney disease. A balanced and proper diet adapted to the needs of patients with diabetic nephropathy, is one of the most important parameters for delaying the progression of the disease. In summary, strict regulation of blood pressure, glucose and blood lipids are required. It is also recommended to maintain normal body weight, stop smoking, and reduce the intake of protein, salt, potassium and phosphorus. The purpose of the research is based on the degree of information diabetic patients (with or without diabetic nephropathy) have concerning preventive nutrition as well as the evaluation of their eating habits. Furthermore, it aims at the significant correlation of dietary intake with the risk factors of diabetic nephropathy and the progress of prognostic markers.
