Μάντζιου, Βασιλική

Education is a service sector which in the EU and the US exceeds 70% of total production. It is twofold compared to other services. On one hand, it contributes to personal development and improvement of human beings. It also plays a key role in the economic development of countries. The scientific and political discourse of countries has, recently, focused on the need for improvement, efficiency and quality development in the vital education space. Countries' efforts to improve education systems have focused on redefining the forms of management, teaching or both. Applying the principles of Total Quality Management to improve the quality of educational services provided appears to be a possible method of administration and philosophy that can lead to successful learning outcomes. Especially in countries such as Greece, which presents ineffective educational products due to the financial crisis of recent years, the application of Total Quality Management principles can lead to positive outcomes for learning organizations.
