Gender equality is an issue that concerns the literature worldwide, and most of the time it is a social phenomenon. However, women, having overcome many obstacles, have managed to claim an active role in the professional arena and even take leadership positions. The issue of leadership is quite important, as practicing effective leadership can help the whole organization in its performance. Women have been in these positions for a few decades and have been particularly successful and productive in their roles. It is useful to note that the area of education needs competent people who need to take over the management or leadership of schools in order to function better and improve their performance. This study attempts to examine the relationship between gender and leadership, and in particular the role that the manager's or manager's gender plays in shaping attitudes and expectations in education. For this reason, a primary, quantitative survey was conducted in Pieria Regional Unity Secondary Schools in order to understand the above relationship. The survey involved teachers working in schools mentioned above, with a total of 120 people. The data collection was done through the distribution of a structured questionnaire, with exclusively closed-ended questions, which was the result of borrowing from international literature and adapted to the needs of this study. The results of the survey showed that the majority of teachers in leadership roles are men, which confirmed the statistics presented for the distribution of men and women in managerial or managerial positions in recent years, while it was not there are stereotypes about the presence of women in leadership positions and the skills or skills that can make them stand out in similar positions.
