The journal "Folklore: Bulletin of the Hellenic Folklore Society" is an official scientific journal of the Hellenic Folklore Society. The journal was published for the first time in 1909 and to date has 43 volumes. The volumes of the magazine are available on the shelves of the Thessaloniki Municipal Library in the magazine section. The content of the journal is divided into 6 categories. In the "studies" category of the journal, where folkloric articles are presented, both the theoretical and methodological evolution of the science and the renewal of its thematic axes due to the interdisciplinary synergy with the neighboring sciences become apparent. Research was carried out regarding the history, services, departments and collection of the Municipal Library of Thessaloniki. This was followed by research on the processing systems of the material, more specifically basic information is presented on Cataloging, Subject Indexing, MARC and Koha, which were the basic tools for registering the bibliographic records of the journal articles in the online catalog of the library. This research was carried out in order to better understand the importance and usefulness of the specific systems, to make decisions about the appropriate fields that must be completed in each article so as to add complete records that will be directly linked to the bibliographic record of the journal that exists already in the online catalog of the library as well as to follow an understandable explanation of the procedure followed in the theoretical part of the work. This thesis is divided into two main parts, the theoretical part which concerns important information about the Municipal Library, the Hellenic Folklore Society, the journal "Folklore: Bulletin of the Hellenic Folklore Society", the conceptual approach to material processing systems and the practical part which presents all bibliographic records in MARC format which have been added to the library's online catalog as part of the work and the analysis of the fields filled in the bibliographic entries.
