Στάσεις και αντιλήψεις νηπιαγωγών για τη διδασκαλία Φυσικών Επιστημών μέσω της ψηφιακής αφήγησης (Master thesis)

With the inclusion of ICT in education, fertile ground was created for traditional
storytelling to be enriched with digital media and to take on a new form, that of digital
storytelling. Digital storytelling is a useful tool in kindergarten because telling stories
and fairy tales is one of the core activities. Digital storytelling can be used as a
didactic and methodological approach in almost all subjects. Especially for the
teaching of science, where toddlers present alternative ideas about various concepts
and phenomena of science, the use of digital storytelling as an innovative method of
teaching and learning can contribute decisively to their reversal.
For a better understanding of the subject, in this paper, firstly, storytelling and digital
storytelling are defined and then analyzed. Reference is made to the forms, cognitive
tools and principles of successful storytelling and education. Also mentioned are the
types, components and stages of creation of digital storytelling, the advantages in
education, as well as teachers and students in relation to digital storytelling. It then
discusses the teaching of science in kindergarten, instructional models, Pedagogical
Content Knowledge, alternative ideas, cognitive conflict, and conceptual change.
Finally, ICT is defined and reference is made to the use of ICT in kindergarten and
science teaching.
The purpose of the empirical research of this paper is to investigate the attitudes and
perceptions of kindergarten teachers regarding the concept, use and utilization of
digital storytelling as a dynamic tool in kindergarten in general and the teaching of
science in particular and at the same time to investigate the attitudes and perceptions
of kindergarten teachers on the use of ICT in kindergarten. For this purpose, a
questionnaire was developed for kindergarten teachers - 76 kindergarten teachers
participated in the survey. The questionnaire aimed to assess participants' knowledge,
attitudes, opinions and perceptions about digital storytelling and its use in teaching
science to preschoolers.
